Research on Informed Consent and Decision-Making

The first step before formally joining a research study is going through an informed consent process. The informed consent process is when study candidates learn about the study, including possible risks and benefits associated with participating. Study candidates can also ask any questions they have about the study.

Through the PERSIST study, we hope to assess the quality of informed consent, along with how well participants understand the objectives, procedures, risks, and benefits of HIV cure-related studies.

Participants in the PERSIST study will complete interviews and surveys to measure the quality of informed consent, and the factors affecting decisions to join or decline HIV cure-related studies.
